Rock for People has announced its fourth headliner, the legendary Sex Pistols, and the biggest ever festival is about to sell out!
On Christmas Eve, the last window of the popular Rock for People Advent calendar hid the fourth headliner of the festival – the legends of the punk-rock subculture Sex Pistols.
They are now one of the biggest stars of the 30th anniversary edition of Rock for People, which will take place from 11 to 15 June 2025 at Park 360 in Hradec Králové. The British revolutionaries, who will celebrate an incredible half-century on the music scene at the festival (with several breaks), will perform with an old-new line-up. In August 2024, original and founding Sex Pistols members Paul Cook, Steve Jones and Glen Matlock are joined by the vivacious Frank Carter of Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes and Gallows to form one of the most surprising and admired musical returns of the year. “I dare say the lineup we’ve managed to put together for next year’s show is truly exceptional. The bar for the festival is once again being raised and we are seeing a huge demand for tickets that we have never seen before,” says festival founder Michal Thomes, adding: “We are enlarging the venue, moving the Fat Lady main stage further away, while strengthening the sanitary infrastructure of Park 360 and other services to maintain the comfort that visitors are used to. But unfortunately, it still doesn’t seem to be reaching all the people. Already, six months before the event, over 85% of the capacity of full-festival tickets is sold out.”
In addition to the last headliner, the organizers announced 22 other bands, divided the lineup into days and started selling one-day tickets in addition to Saturday tickets, which are already sold out based on the huge interest from previous weeks. More bands will be announced in the new year. Each year Rock for People brings several days of high quality energetic music as well as additional supporting programming in the form of performances, dance, stand up comedy and engaging discussions. In addition to the headliners, visitors can look forward to Biffy Clyro, Fontaines D.C., Awolnation, Kneecap, Jerry Cantrell (guitarist and founder of Alice in Chains), Skillet, IDLES and In Flames. The CZ/SK scene is represented in the lineup by Ewa Farna or Horkýže Slíže. The following 30th edition is exceptional with the addition of the Birthday Party on 15 June, headlined by Guns N’ Roses, where the organisers have joined forces with Live Nation CZ. All full-festival 4-day ticket holders have the opportunity to purchase Sunday’s programme at a discounted price.
.
Some of the festival tickets are already sold out, such as the one-day Saturday tickets with headliner Linkin Park and the all-festival senior tickets. During the week, the organisers have launched pre-sales for Camping/Glamping and Parking. Within minutes, all the experiential accommodation such as the Chill Village, Chalet Tents, Teepee and Park/Caravan Camp sold out. More information and ticket sales can be found on the festival’s brand new website www.rockforpeople.cz.
Sex Pistols are legends and one of the pioneers of the punk rock subculture. Now they are performing with a new line-up led by Frank Carter and three original and founding members. The foursome first came together to play three nights for a fundraiser at West London’s iconic Bush Hall, wowing fans and critics alike. Indeed, Sex Pistols appeared on stage for the first time in 16 long years. At the time, no one expected it to be a hugely successful comeback. Carter’s guest appearance was a perfect fit. He perfectly performed the hits that changed the world while remaining completely himself. Sex Pistols played all the songs from their 1977 album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s Sex Pistols, which includes the legendary hits Anarchy in the UK and God Save the Queen. They were joined on stage by the darling of the younger music crowd, Yungblud. Such was the response to the August shows that the band have announced another gig, this time at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on 26 September. This sold out almost immediately. This was further impetus for the band to come up with more shows around the UK.
“The most glorious sight in a beautiful music hall in west London is of a band, at last, regaining its liberty” Kerrang!
Sex Pistols will arrive in the Czech Republic next year for only the second time in their career. The band played their first domestic gig in 1996, backed by local punks E!E.
Having become a leader of the Czech music scene over the last couple of years, Rock for People brings over 150 artists every year, including the world’s biggest stars. The dramaturgy of each day is carefully arranged so that the program includes a diverse selection of certified, energetic, guitar-driven acts, trending bands, and also newcomers. Aside from foreign artists, the Czech & Slovak music scene is also represented; the first announced local name of the upcoming edition is Ewa Farna, one of the most successful Czech-Polish singers of today, who will come back to Park 360 a year after supporting superstar Ed Sheeran on his two shows in July 2024. Behind Rock for People is the agency Ameba Production, which also hosts dozens of concerts yearly aside from the festival. This year’s 29th Rock for People, led by Bring Me The Horizon, The Offspring, The Prodigy, and Yungblud, was a huge success not only among fans, of whom there were nearly 40,000, but also in the eyes of the media, raising the bar higher once again. In July, Park 360 in Hradec Králové also hosted two megashows of world superstar Ed Sheeran. Ameba Production also runs the popular baby-punk festival Kefír and co-organizes music conferences and showcases of Prague Music Week.
